A win-win situation

Sometimes going out with your parents can be quite fun. Besides the fact that you spend time with them, more often or not they will be the ones paying for your expenses during that time. Well, this maybe sounds rather mercenary, but seriously, my mum for example, pays for me when we go out. But it's kinda like a win-win situation - spend time with mum, both of us enjoy the outing, expenses paid by her & she has company to go for events that she wants to go to.

My mum suddenly told me that she really wants to watch "Lord of the Dance" & though i wasn't really interested, but i figured that no loss in going. After all, the trailers did look exciting, although i wasn't sure if it was the kind of dance i'd enjoy. But if you don't try something new, you'll never know right? Plus, it's after my exams that we're going to watch it, so bring it on man. Best thing is, i really enjoy going for these kind of events & shows anyway. Love the whole process of getting ready for it (yes i'm bimbotic. hah), wearing something "nicer" & getting the chance to doll up somewhat, reveling in the atmosphere of whatever venue the event it is held at - see exhibits, photos, displays & lotsa lotsa interesting people. Yesh, the voyeuristic instinct is in my blood... to see & be seen as they say. Or as Foucault (if you remember, that sexy French man) conceptualizes it... the "gaze"... muahaha. Then of cos the show itself is the major treat itself...

Heh. Tomorrow evening gonna go for Ecnad's (a dance company - it's actually 'dance' spelt backwards! hee) "FireBall" event, "an explosion of artistic expression dedicated to dance, set ablaze at the resplendent Arts House between 20 April to 1 May 2005... Dance is the nucleus, drawing together more than 25 artists of various disciplines to pay tribute to this mesmerizing art form that has enthralled men and women since time immemorial... presented by Ecnad in conjunction with its 9th birthday celebrations" (http://www.ecnad.org/homecalendar.html). And the following weekend, it's Lord of the Dance! woo hoo...

But for now. I must study. Haven't been doing that cos i've totally lose the steam already. Need to recharge & chiong sua already loh!!! *WAR CRY*

It's all coming back to me now

"Its amazing how arguments, quarrels, even calamity can indeed bring people closer, or build a yet stronger foundation to base the relationship upon, but similarly, they can also wreak disasters if one chooses to cross the boundary. The very thin line of unspoken rule that borders on the basis of trust and respect. To forgive and forget might sound like the run-of-the-mill antidote to remedy any trouble, but in reality, it's never an easy task. And that is something that people these days take for granted too easily. Sometimes, we really need to sit and critically evaluate how we treat and judge those around us, coz you never know, you might end up having a taste of your own sick and disgusting medicine"

I'm so sorry Danfield, but i just had had had to rip this off from your blog. Reason cos i so totally totally totally agreeeeeeeeeeeeee with you on this man. Spot on, you really articulated some of the issues that i have been grappling with in recent times.

Today, after my ultra-demoralizing Urban paper (my 3rd paper out of 5 so far ONLY... *grumble*), went down town for dinner & then met Y to pass her back her water-bag. Haven't seen Y since Dec & in between then and now, so much has happened. Initally thought i'd just pass her the stuff & head home, but in the end we just talked & talked at the bus-stop downstairs her place, until we both got so thirsty. So, we went up to her place in the end. Haha. So dumb, should have done that the moment i met her. Nevertheless, it was great catching up & just having the girl-talk & bitching session. Y is a good friend & she is a person whom i feel has this very "untainted" quality about her. It's always very easy to talk to her & she has been there for me in my darkest times. Y, hope you are reading this, although you said you haven't done so for some time! Anyway, it was good to laugh all the bad stuff out & i realised how much Y has grown. So much wiser & matured in certain aspects & i'm so glad tt Y is doing well & enjoying her working life now.

Ah yes. The power-packed Celine sings her heart out now on my Mp3 player... this song really brings back memories.

Money money money

My oh my. I'm so gonna burn a huge hole in my pocket after graduation... So far, 4 trips in mind already. 3 are confirmed and 1 is still pending... oh no, i'm so gonna be broke after it all! After calculating my expenses & costs, total amount i would spend for all 4 trips would equal a whooping $3.5k?

1st trip is to Kota Tinggi for a camp in some place called the Rainforest Resort.
2nd trip is to Kuching (that's in East Malaysia) for a church outing cum holiday.
The 3rd trip is to go to Koh Chang & Bangkok. Plan so far is to fly to BKK myself first & meet up with my classmates there, after their YEP has ended. Then it's off on a 5 hours bus ride to the sandy white shores & clear waters of Koh Chang, touted to be the "last paradise islands in SEA" (http://www.koh-chang.com/). After that it's back to BKK for shopping... omg Jatujak (this MEGA pasar malam open only on weekends for the whole day, where they sell EVERY damn thing at dirt-cheap prices) is calling me!!! arghghg
And the grand finale is to USA to go for my friend's grad & to tour the Eastern seaboard (woo hoo NY here i come!) *kaching kaching kaching* ouch. This one is gonna be the killer man. Then home sweet home where reality will then sink in & knock me where it hits the hardest.

So many things that i have to do after exams. For one, i have to get my driving lessons fixed (puh-lease dun let me drag it any more... bleah). Oh crap. That means i need more moo-lah. ARGH. Hmm. Think that's one more item to my to-do-list... to find myself a freaking rich guy!

The server is against me!

Hey, you pple reading my blog now. Can you all see the funky wallpaper with the cool coloured squares? How about the pale orangy background behind my text? (Elzap, it's not seahorses. They are zebras. Funky ones.) Can you? Huh huh huh?

ARGH I CAN'T SEE THE CHANGES I MADE TO MY BLOG. WHYYYYYYY... All i see is just a boring pink text background, shouldered by blank white sides. The stupid default template is not changing on my side, no matter how many times i refresh the page & republish the blog. Argh. Die windows die...

I should convert to using Mac one fine day. And that day is when somebody transfers some moo-lah into my bank. Just a couple of K will do. Cheque's fine too. Thanks ah.

Seems like i have to live with this dull old p i n k background. *mutters under breath*

Old

Popped down to town after my 1st paper. Needed to just unwind, after being cooped up in the lab & in sch for the past week. It's nice to go to town alone sometimes. Shopped a bit & walked a lot. Got stopped by this girl who was doing some survey for her church, after which she said a short prayer for me right in the middle of Orchard Road. Passed by Orchard Cineleisure & decided to just go in & take a look. Bad thing to do.

I feel old.

The pple there, the shops, the whole environment just seemed too kiddy, too cutesy, too... what's that word... teenager-ish. Oh man. And you know you're no longer an adolescent when you start looking at clothes that you once thought only adults or your mum would wear, or clothes that seem to be more "proper" and formal. I just prefer more classy clothes now. Hmm, not that i mind the occasional pink bubblegum coloured singlet or a funky tee, but i just think fashion must be of a certain class, a certain taste lah. Know what i mean? So many clothes out that are like trash man. Disgusting. And some are just plain 'Obiang'. So. I think i am "maturing" in taste somewhat. Or perhaps it's just Orchard Cineleisure.

But then, as i walked towards my bus-stop, i passed by this group of girls. Young things they were, about 13-14 years i think. Talking, or rather, squeaking away in really cutesy, high-pitched voices. Topic of discussion: Nice or not? My shirt & shorts? *pose* omg, my cute shirt has a water stain... Michelle!!! (or wadever her friend's name was) you split water on my shirt! *giggles all around*

Sheesh. I found myself thinking how youngsters nowadays have such superficial ways of spending their time. How they are wasting their time & how "lucky" they are to have the luxury to spend away their parent's money like water. Tsk tsk. Was i like that before? Endulging in such youthful pursuits? I believe everyone does so, though to different degrees. But definitely nothing like what you see today. It's atrocious i tell you. Just go down to town on a Saturday afternoon. It's infested with the future spoilt brats & princesses of Singapore. Yes. I think i'm getting old...

Like that wasn't enough. As i journeyed home on the bus, this couple boarded the bus at one of the stops. The girl was from my alma mater - she wore a Crez Guides windbreaker - and the guy was a SJI boy. Ah yes. Young puppy love. Once again, my voyeuring instincts kicked in. And i watched. Muahahaha. They talked, though their eyes seemed to dart away each time the other party looked at the other in the eyes. Those bashful smiles & quick side glances at the other party... the stupid act-cute face the boy was giving the girl. The body language showing the girl's consciousness of herself, as she kept touching the sides of her hair. Everything was so sweet & pure & clean. Such is the stuff of young love. And once again, i speak as though i were 54 years old. And once again, i found myself thinking: Young love starts out sweet & nice of cos, but wait till you really go through stuff, then you'll find out how tough it gets. Don't get yourself involved so soon. It really won't last. You young kids don't know what is love. Too naive, too naive *shakes head* And all the while, the stupid teeny-bopping music playing on my radio subsided into a distant drumming sound.

Stopped at HV & decided to get something to make me feel happy. Decided on BK's onion rings, but walked to the Windmill shopping centre just to take a look first. Saw Chen Liping & Rayson Tan with their kid at the handphone shop there. Unlike celebrities elsewhere, Singaporean artistes just don't bother really much to keep up their star image while they are out. They looked very lok-kok. But then again, maybe it's just them. Perhaps they're still broke after the Slim 21 court case. Maybe they just don't bother.

Got my onion rings and waited like a million years for the stupid bus to come, while my back ached from the weight of my bag & my eyes were drying up from fatigue & the dust. Yes. Old. Now having a slight headache, dunno why. Ahh... just cracked my back. Ok. If i go on any longer, i really would be rambling like an old woman already.

Think i shall go take out my dentures now & rub oils on my aching joints.

Mee-Shell Foo-Koh

Today was the 1st day of my last semester of exams in NUS. Political Geography: State/Space. Sounds good? Well the exam questions were better. The compulsory question which tested us on the 3 great thinkers taught in the course, was split up into 3 sub-parts - one for each thinker. That cunning Sidaway... and to think that i was so worried about having to incoporate all 3 together somehow in my answers.

The 3 thinkers were Henri Lefebvre, Michel Foucault & Edward Said. All great men indeed. I chose Foucault, the sexy French man. I think the question set for his part is just so damn cool. Check this out...

Consider the consequence for the study of political geography of any one of the following claims:
(a) "Instead of making the distinction between state and civil society into a historical universe that allows us to examine all the concrete systems, we can try to see it as a form of schematization characteristic of a particular technology of government" (Foucault, 1979)

NOW ISN'T THAT BEAUTIFUL OR WHAT?

Phew. Such sexy academic language!!! Such sophisticated usage of words & such seductive snytax! I am not going mad! Really mean it... say it out aloud! "Skee-mer-tie-zay-shion ker-rac-ter-rees-tic of a par-tee-q-ler tack-nor-ler-gee of gah-ver-ment" *ahh yes*

Wow. I actually enjoyed doing this question. Somehow, the exams this time round is really different. I feel like i'm enjoying it (which is great cos it's my last bloody sem!!) & i just don't feel super kan-cheong. Hmm. Maybe not yet... but still, i feel this sense of calm. Like dead calm. No worries, anxieties, cool & steady. Thank goodness for it too. It sure will be nice to end my academic 'career' with a peaceful, smooth finish.

An interesting turn of events

Was it Murphy's law? Something about it always happens when you least expect it or want it.

Yeah. Something like that. Well, Murphy came a-knocking on my door today. At a really unexpected time too. Like the time when you come out of the shower, wrapped up only in a towel & the pizza delivery-man is at your door... oh. Digressing here... that will be another story.

SO. Having lunch with M & BK today & all was fine & dandy... finished lunch & were sipping our cups of watermelon-apple drinks. And suddenly, i spotted the Phantom. Walking down the steps with Kitty. OMG. My heart started to pump harder & faster & suddenly my hands & fingers had a life of their own & started to tremble. What was i feeling? Excitement? Surprise? Uncertainty? Fear? I dunno man. It just felt like "OMG".

Well the Phantom must have seen me, as it decided to switch tables, perhaps after realising that the initial choice of location would result in a not-so-good visual arrangement. i.e. The Phantom probably wanted to distance itself from me. Or perhaps it was instigated by Kitty. Hmm... in any case, they moved 2 tables back away from us. So the voyeuring starts.

Nothing happened, except that the Phantom sat with its back facing us, while waiting for its gang to get their food. I continued talking to M & BK - the latter was so utterly confused but nonetheless in the confusion was making a big joke out of it all. Then the Phantom got up to get food. We waited. Waited. When the Phantom finally came back, it sat facing our direction & for that period of time, i was really conscious. Tried to hide my "OMG-ness" by babbling incessantly to M & BK, who by then were providing a live commentary on the Phantom's movements & being blur & nonsensical respectively. Speculated about what was happening & soon, i decided that there was really no point in hanging around too long. Needed to go back to study anyway.

We tore our butts of the yellow swivel seats & my hands still shivered like at a level of 3 Richter scale. Ok lah. Not so bad already. Managed to bring our trays to the tray counter & walked off, all the time composed & not giving any hint of my awareness of its presence. Funnily enough, i felt totally ok right after i stepped out of that area. No more shaking of hands, or heart beating fast, or "OMG-ness". Nothing. Just as if nothing had happened at all.

In a way, i felt great. I felt good. I feel happy and am contented with what & who i have.

Just another 200m more...

Yup fellow nerds & muggers,

all the best for all your papers yeah? The finishing line is just around the bend, so quit panting & sprint!

Last exams to be taken for me... hmm kinda estatic yet sadistically, a little "sad'? (for lack of a better word) Oh well, somehow i am feeling rather slack & not as stressed as i thought i'd be. It's like this sense of "aiyah, last sem already, must 'enjoy' know? Plus whatever it is, your CA is not too bad mah... then some more, won't be so suay CAP will drop down to the next class right? *silence* RIGHT?"

sheesh. ok... well still early to say. Think my alarm bells will ring sometime soon, perhaps in the next 24 hours, when my 1st paper start. Eh wait. it's less than 24hrs to it. ARGH.

Ok back to understanding Foucault. *yay*

The Honours Program in Alfred University

You should really check this website out (courtesy of Elzap, who for some strange reason finds the wierdest, most irrelevant things on the web).

Do try out the entrance exam yeah?

http://www.alfred.edu/honors/humor.html#excuses

Moo-Vs

I think these are some movies that are worth watching. Even if you have watched them before.

1) Billy Elliot (just love the dancing & the 'cockney' English (eh is that how u spell it?)
2) Run Lola Run
3) Goodbye Lenin (ah yes... thanks to Tim Bunnell's Urban class, i am reminded of this wondeful film, depicting how the paradoxes & clashes of 2 different worlds -- West & East Germany (the capitalistic vs the communist world) -- come together in strange & comical way in the life of the protaganist, who awakes from a coma to find herself in this new world)
4) 8 women (some French film... mystery & murder no?)
5) LOTR (funnily enough, i feel like watching the whole triology again some day)

Right. Shall add in more stuff when they come to mind. Anybody got any other good shows?

Chance or Choice

I came across something which sparked off this train of thought in my semi-working brain...

In life, we meet many people & the paths of ours and others criss-cross in such random fashion & complex patterns, that very often, the people we meet, could be said to be of a chance. Take for example, if you decide to go to town at 2pm, taking the bus there and stop at Paragon, the course of events will differ if you decide to stop at Plaza Singapura instead. Then again, it will differ again in another degree if you decided to take the train there. What if you decided to go to town at night instead? So many different permutuations of what each step you can take will affect the course of events & people you meet. Still follow?

So, enough of the permutation & combinations. You meet somebody. And remember, this is due to the probability as mentioned above. Then again, the other person's choice of steps will also affect his/her course of actions. Wow. Just think of the odds of meeting somebody! So what if you go to town at 2pm? But the other person decides to stay home or go to the beach instead? But... if he/she decides to go to town, you might just meet that person. Are you still following?

The point is, i guess as i'm explaining this to myself, i realise that perhaps meeting someone is not a matter of chance, or statistical probability after all. Perhaps there is a reason for everything that happens. I would like to believe that it's what God has planned for me. So, what about the part on choice? Yes, that is the tricky part. Where free will is granted to us to choose (although not wisely at all times), what we want.

So you meet somebody, by random or chance (whichever convinces you more) and the next thing is, do you choose to associate with that person or not? Befriend, like, dislike, avoid, love, hate, acknowledge. Again, what do you choose to do? And once again, what you choose to do will lead to a whole new course of consequent events, actions & other people that you meet. And the cycle goes on...

Do you think you have made the right/wrong choices in life? I mean, how would you know right? You won't. Perhaps that's what keeps us all moving on.

I can't think of a title

ARGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGGHGHGHGH

headache.

do i really need to study as hard as i think i will? or rather, should? or rather, can?

come on superlambanana. focus you idiot!!

brain feels like a dried up prune. if only i did a thesis. HAHA.

mexicano & margarita

that's what i had in just a couple of hours.

As M puts it, here we are drinking a stimulant and then a depressant. haha, whole body super confused now. And now, i think my brain is a bit whacked up. Don't think i can sleep... at least not yet.

Feeling itchy and warm and red. Always the case when i take a bit of alcohol. Good for blood circulation. Hmm. The pizza thingy at Tango's (Holland Village) looked real good. Always love gooey cheese pizza stuff.

Still itchy. And a bit light-headed. Think if anybody talked to me now, i'll probably sprout a bit of nonsense.

Retail therapy. I think i believe it works. At least for me. Feel quite happy when i went down town just now & got meself a belt & skirt. Wah, really saw quite a few things that i wanted to get. Perhaps it's a girl thing, but buying stuff really helps you feel better.

Still haven't got a reply. Anticipating but a tad nervous. Well as JC put it, since i made the first step to making things right, i guess it's good enough for now. How the response is from the other side is really not for me to be worried about. Yup, i think i have let go already. Cos it doesn't eat me as much after saying my peace. I believe that's good enough for now. Right?

Results - Understated

Men See You As Understated
You are an intriguing mix of girl and woman.
You're feminine, quiet, and a total mystery to most men.
Yet they often feel the urge to protect you, even if they don't know you.
You *are* a flirt, but you usually only flirt with those you know well.

Wow. So that's how men see me huh? Based on 7 questions in this quiz that i took, it does seem rather apt. Thanks M for the link. Bits of this description really rings true man.

All in all, i guess i'm just one confused girl/woman trying to find her identity/self. You feel you want somebody, yet you want to be free. One can never be satisfied with what they have don't you think so? Can't have your cake and eat it.

Guys, don't blame me for being heartless or mean. But pls don't interfere with the process now.

Sigh.

Is this goodbye?

I feel sad that my honours year is coming to an end. It's been really great to have gone through the past year of my Uni life with this bunch of guys and gals. No matter how stressful or hectic it was, staying on for my 4th year is one of the best things i ever did. So many lessons learnt... academic/intellectual lessons were so much more thought provocative & stimulating & much more challenging. Work load was heavier & sometimes crazy perhaps, but still we all survived through it. Old friendships were strengthened and new ones forged, and it's really so good to have made some real good friends in the honours class. Ones that you would really hope to keep for as long as you live. Even life lessons were aplenty. Yup, it's been a "growing-up" period as well. Painful but necessary i suppose.

I know i will always miss that little classroom in the corner.... with the dustbin always overfilled with our empty paper cups and cans. The pots of plants that line the corridor outside the geog dept to our room. The green grassy slope. The David Harvey poster cum "shrine". The "cursed" whiteboard where we write the quote of the day & any annoucements for readings, outings & overseas trips. Even ransom messages asking pple to pay up class fund & money for readings. The silly things pple sometimes draw on the board. The cranky, lousy, dinosaur computer that we all use time and time again for our countless presentations. The screen with which we watch videos, VCDs & movie clips. The messy arrangement of all the chairs, with tables that slip, causing so many incidents of spilled drinks. The geog honours plaque made by Rezal, with all 51 of our adjectives & names. The messy table & cupboard which used to hold files for readings, but usurped this semester by YEP stuff. The view outside the window. The posters put up on the walls from Geog Thought, showing our imaginations of what a post-modern city looks like. The world map. The notice board with our class list. The 2 movable tables which we use to eat our packed food on. And all this is just the room itself.

The late nights in the classroom & GIS lab to do up presentations & projects. The jogging sessions. The X'mas party in 2004. The marathon Geog thought presentation session from 9-5pm and the prata lunch treat from Brenda Yeoh during the break. The class outings - the Rice Table outing cum pool session at Monstercue, "The Incredibles" movie outing, the Bangkok trip, the Pizza Hut outing today.

I am thankful for this experience & I thank my honours classmates for making my Uni life complete & meaningful. Love you all! :)

Also it's been wonderful to have great lecturers... Brenda Yeoh, Wong Poh Poh, Victor Savage, T.C. Chang, Peggy Teo, James Sidaway, Carl Grundy Warr, Park Bae Gyoon, Lee Yong Sook, Tim Bunnell. They really rock at what they do.

Perhaps it's not goodbye but au revoir. Perhaps paths will cross again in the future. Perhaps.

Speak of the devil...

... cos right after the previous blog entry, i find out something about something from the past which disturbed me. Initially at least. Felt like i couldn't believe it. Wasn't in my consciousness, though i had some inkling of it already. Didn't expect that it was really true and real. But guess it's a good sign. Life does go on. I'm the pot that called the kettle black. Yum. Taste of my own "medicine".

Well... LET GO! Yes, I am. Just that there are some rope burns as i slowly release the cord from the past... And i must be so so dumb. To feed myself with nostalgia & unwanted guilt & feeling so apologetic when everything's already all over. And the past has now renewed itself pretty well and i shld be glad for that. But i still feel wierd. ARGH.

Now as I'm stuck in the GIS lab, 5 mins before 9pm, i feel as if i dun want to go home. Resisting the urge to call/sms pple. Know i have to finish my Europe paper soon. My last formal academic piece of work in NUS, perhaps forever. Ah yes, nostalgia have we? Sigh. I've enough of nostalgia. Though i really hope i dun harden up, but not an overdose of it please.

Eyes are drying up. Don't feel like moving at all.

The Nature of the Beast

I think human beings are really strange creatures. And it seems apparent that as societies move on and the ages grow darker, people are getting more complicated and complex in their souls.

Take me for example. Always had such romanticized notions of love & romance. Lovey-dovey and all things sweet. Life revolves around the person & everything was possible as long as we can work things out. Yup, work things out work things out work things out out out. Even when really rude shocks came along the way & things started to crack, you keep telling youself work things out. When the mutual respect for each other and the insensitivity crept in, up till the point that you start internalizing and assuming negative things about the other party, you still go on, cos you believe we can work things out. I made many mistakes. Ironic that when you want to work things out, you never really talk it out with the other person. And even when there was some form of communication, each was too stubborn to see the other's point of view, or just refused to compromise. Sometimes, you just don't understand the other party.

AND THEN. The beast shows itself. Man (the generic term) can really be truly dark. Didn't think I would have such "power" to create a monster out of another person. But perhaps it was in him too. Negativity breeds negativity. Everything going downhill. You know, the one most important thing is never to lose trust in a person. It seriously kills everything. No matter how much you want to "work it out".

Do you believe pple can be numbed? Like their emotions and memories packed away in an ice-box? I felt like mine was for the past few months. Didn't feel the pain or remember anything from the past. Numb. Blocked it all out. And now, i'm melting. Or rather, i'm "thawing". And slowly the past memories & incidents haunt me as and when they please. The emotions too, hit me hard when they occur. I hope i'm not going mad. Feel like I've woken up from a coma and realize what had happened to me.

I'm glad in a way that life goes on. But it hurts when you find out that the past has a present that is no longer yours to hold. Not that i want it back though... but you just wonder what has been going on ever since you fell into that numbness, that coma, and now that you've woken up, what's next?

I used to dislike. Then detest. Then hate. My goodness, can you believe that? Hate and love at the same time. But then again, i'm not sure if that can be considered love. What is love? It just escapes my understanding. Such a beast inside of me. Always being loved but never really loved back? Or even if i thought i really did love, it wasn't... I give up now.

Good Morning!

yup... good morning good morning goooood morning!

I just love my blog hahaha. Think i'm on a high & just addicted to this new bloggy-woggy. Only been er... a couple of days? And i've already got so many entries. Hmm... i wonder if i let friends view my blog, they might be like turned off? heh.

ok, today gonna start "studying" for the exams. First, is to tackle my cross-fac module... Women's Health... sheesh. I MUST pass this mod. That Kuldip Singh of a Jingh better give me a Pass. Not that i don't study or anything of that sort. Oh well. Better not waste anymore time.

Eh. Think i'll head down to the canteen or vending machine. Need a hot drink. Sigh but tis' so far away...

Time to heal

Tired. Sleepy. Exhausted. Drained. Ruffled up. Disturbed. Sigh.

Felt so depressed just now after getting home from school. A lot of pain washing over me, stirring up feelings of shame, guilt, disappointment, sorrow & despair. Cried silently and thought whether i shld approach my mum. But i think it's best that i try to cope alone first, until i really cannot take it. I think she needs as much peace & assurance to know that i'm ok. Prayed and called on the Lord. In a way, i did feel better.

Started reminiscing about certain things in the past. Looking back, i see my flaws & mistakes sticking out like a sore thumb. Just couldn't see them then. Regret is too late. Didn't treasure what i had & i guess this is the price to pay. Perhaps things would have turned out the same way, but in a less painful & hard way if i were mature enough to understand others & know exactly who i am. Need to be more self-confident of myself. Really. Though it's hard to see myself in the same light as before, i just hope i'm not a gone-case & it's not too late.

I'm not looking for anyone now. Nor am i wanting anybody now. In fact, perhaps i shld shut myself out from such things for a long long time. Can't help but feel a little disillusioned & jaded about relationships. Just a little phobic now about this whole thing. Argh, i don't wanna think about this.

It's taking quite a lot out of me. But i'm thankful that i have God to turn to. I hope He has forgiven me for all that i've done wrong. It's time i set my priorities right with Him.

Feeling tired from the crying now. Always do. It really saps energy out of me. Eyes kinda hurt now, like it feels dried up ironically. Shall go hit the sack now. Tomorrow is another new day. A fresh beginning, like the dew. Gonna have to do up my last academic paper ever in NUS... Europe, here i come! *yawn*

oh yes. i really hope my blog gets more and more positive. Healing is, after all, a process right?

Heart on a chopping board

Feeling really unpeaceful now. Thinking of the upcoming exams, which is like 12 days away... thinking of my cross-fac module, which is a do-or-die thing... cos if i dun pass it with at least a C, i can say hello to GE4101: Geog Thought again next semester. Plus, thanks to mr Kuldip Singh my wonderful lecturer, who gave me a mysterious C grade for my CA (it is 40% argh!!!), i am really at the brink of passing or failing the damn module. Sigh. It's just so ironic that i will have to spend more effort to make sure i understand a cross-fac mod, rather than concentrate on my geog major modules. World-class university, indeed.
Also found out that a friend's mum is hospitalised and i feel lousy about it. I've met the mother before and it's just so unfortunate that she has to undergo such an experience. She's a real nice lady and works very hard to support the family. Sigh. I think if my mother were to be hospitalised or something, I will not be able to take it. Especially at this point in time. I am just too fragile. Feel like breaking apart. Heart is on a chopping board, compounded with the stresses that will pile up soon. I pray that God strengthen me and watch over my friend and his mother. May she have a successful operation and a speedy recovery. I feel unpeaceful. I need to talk to my mother.
God please forgive me of my sins and wash away the un-peaceful feelings in my heart.

Weddings 1101

Attended a wedding at Hilton Hotel. My mum's colleague got married to a really pretty lady. Having attended wedding dinners here and there, I kinda gathered what are some of the dos and don'ts, or the wants and no-nos in a wedding dinner. This is what I think I would like to have and see in a wedding.

1) Tasteful classical music as the background during the banquet. NEVER techno or pop crap.
2) Live music is great. Classical of cos. The Tang Quartet performed at the wedding I attended. Ahh... nice...
3) Slide show of pictures/photos of the couple
4) Personalised gifts for guests
5) Absolute need for GOOD MCs. Read: Can speak fluent English without any bad pronounciation or stupid lame jokes. MCs must be close friends of the couple. Makes it more spontaneous & genuine. This is what makes or breaks the dinner atmosphere.
6) Please can somebody ban those horrible "yam-sengs"? Sheesh... it's bad enough to hear pple screaming that out aloud, let alone when the "yam-seng" that comes out turns out to be a feeble, weak one...
7) Treat your guests to a nice chocolate buffet at the end of the dinner. Think Fullerton. Though I've not been to their chocolate buffet yet. YET. sigh.
8) Always thank God, your parents & your other half during your speech. These are the most important pple in your lives.
9) Have 2 photographers and 1 camera man. Get better coverage & different angles of your wedding experience.
10) Ban those stupid games that MCs love to pull on the couple. Refer back to point 5) It's humiliating and insulting and sometimes really tacky. If the games are decent enough & tasteful, then it's ok. But then again, so far I haven't seen many like that.

Think there are many more, but these are by far the most prominent things I have observed so far. If I ever get married, IF (cos i really can't see that happening to me anymore), well I hope these points do stand true for my wedding. Oh well. I'm dreaming again. I really should stop.

Ballet Under The Stars

Beautiful. Bravo. Breath-taking. Brilliant.

Singapore Dance Theatre... I salute you. Their strength, coordination, muscular bodies, elegance, grace, flexibility, flexibility, impact, poise, (did i mention flexibility?) and confidence... *faints from the overload*

I'm going to make sure I watch BUTS every season from now on. This is the 3rd time I caught it, but this time round, it was especially good. Although Jeffrey Tan's piece "Facade" was from his old repertoire, that was my favourite piece of the night. The music alone blew my mind away... Everybody should go download or buy Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings". My goodness. It totally stirred really deep feelings within me and made me think about my life... really 1st class & insipring music. So tempted to take up ballet haha.

Yes, I really LOVE watching dance concerts. The established and reputable dance companies of cos. Going to the Esplanade or any of theatres always never fails to give me that thrill & excitement. Watched a few damn good ones in the past months - Alvin Ailey, Compagnia AterBalleto and now BUTS. Really good stuff. Good plays are also something else that I truly enjoy. Always loved supporting such 'cultural'/'art' events. Believe that next time I will still go on to do so. heh. so exciting! :)

Scritch Scratch Scritch

Hello! Ah yes, finally got down to starting up my blog again. Been wanting to do this for months & I'm glad this is finally out. Guess my main motivation for wanting to blog again, is cos I realise that as I grow older, I seem to be suffering from amnesia or something. Can't seem to remember many things, even the more important/significant events. That's scary. I don't want my life to go on like a blur, considering that already 22 years have already slipped me by. Plus, many things have happened in my life that I want to keep track of, to remember and to keep in memory. Good and bad stuff. May they serve as reminders & some kind of a progress chart of how I'm faring as I'm "growing up" & finding myself along the way...

Guess another good reason to blog is cos I just need to vent. Who doesn't? But pple do it in different ways. I guess mine is about smashing them keys on the keyboard and getting the satisfaction of just letting it all out by typing hard. Blogs are great friends. At least they don't give you stupid advice or talk back. You can just pour out all your woes & crap to it and well, it wouldn't hit you back. So bite me. Hah.

But on a serious note, I think blogging would really help me, especially from now onwards. Should have continued blogging from where I left off from my old blog in November last year. Oh well. Better late than never. I just wanto keep track of my life, to know who what where how when why and wadever. Then maybe 10 years down the road, or when I meet some major crisis in my life, I can read everything I ever written and see how I've developed and where I'm heading. Yup. So much for that. Thank God for everything. I pray that He will continue to open the way for me to go on in my life in a manner that is of light and love.
