Home swe(a)t Home

People... I'm back!

From the cool, relaxed, quiet & peaceful corner of NZ, it's kinda nice to be back in sunny, noisy, hot & humid Singapore. Homecoming is quite an interesting experience. Basically, if you ever lived or studied overseas for a decent length of time and came home for holidays, i'm quite sure you'll agree with me that somehow the grass is always greener on the other side. No don't get me wrong, i'm not saying i'm not happy to be back home, but the feeling of excitement & yearning sure wasn't that intense as when i actually arrived back home. It seems to me that the most exciting part about coming home is ironically the part when you are waiting and counting the days to homecoming. The anticipation and the seemingly endless possibilities of what you're going to do - what local foods you're going to stuff yourself silly with, the places you suddenly developed an interest for (e.g. museums) that you tell yourself you are so going to visit, the people that you really wanna meet up with, and the truckloads of stuff you wanna buy - is actually what defines "homecoming". And then, when you make the journey and reach your destination, everything that was carefully thought of and planned for somehow gets thrown outta window. Well, that's sorta my experience right now actually.

But of cos there are things i still wanna do, foods i still wanna eat, places i wanna go, pple i wanna meet & things i wanna buy. Well, just that it kinda lost its intensity... and in some ways, i kinda miss NZ... the environment and the people there. Established some really good relationships with some pple there & it's been a ball of a time being together. Life could not have been so enjoyable there if not for them... But then again, i really miss some of my friends here too... and if you are one of those who know about my blog, you're probably one of them :) Miss the weather there though... man i love the cool fresh air there... it just totally refreshes your whole being. But of cos it's good that it's hot and sunny here, so i can shed those 6kg that i piled on and get a nice tan again...

Ok, am i vacillating here? You see, human beings can never be contented. I'm happy here yet i pine for something elsewhere, and when i'm there, i miss the things here. Guess you can figure out why the title of this entry is as such...
